The Impending Cat Wave

Art Gallery of St Albert

Window Installation

2015

The Impending Cat Wave started with a mistake of dropping a box of 300 cat face prints on the floor one early morning. Staring at my mess of recently chronologically ordered (by colour and face) prints, I realised that the overlapping of the cats in a larger form was almost coy in that it hides the fact of its parts until closer inspection.

They swept my floor like an ocean wave, so this is the final form they took—as what portrays the mystery and seductiveness of the feline

nature than an impending wave set against an atomic sky: the duality between good and evil, embodying beauty, grace and softness while at the same time having the threat of malice, violence and deception.
